Fire Systems Engineering Technician

At Cosgroves we provide professional consulting engineering services to the construction industry. We specialise in fire, mechanical, hydraulics, civil, electrical and sustainable engineering, and have offices in Auckland, Tauranga, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown.


Our recent success has created a unique opportunity for you to join our Fire Engineering Team, based in either our Auckland, or Christchurch branch.


With some of New Zealand’s largest projects underway we are looking for someone confident and capable of the following:

  • Visiting project sites to view and assess fire safety features.
  • Carry out inspections of the specified fire safety features.
  • Efficient preparation and delivery of documentation throughout the construction of the project.
  • Provide technical assistance to contractors as required.
  • iaise with the authorities such as Fire & Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) and Building Consent Authorities (BCA’s) as required to resolve issues or communicate relevant site developments.
  • Co-ordination with the wider engineering teams and assist in cross-over inspections while on site if required.
  • Effectively communicate progress, issues and complexities, as required, with appropriate Cosgroves staff.

To succeed in this role, ideally you have:

  • 5 years’ industry experience.
  • Knowledge of building design and construction processes.
  • Site Experience with Fire Safety features
  • Technical knowledge of Fire Safety Systems  
  • Project management experience including familiarity with preparing and handling documentation control including RFI’s, CAN’s etc
  • Experience with Health + Safety process and control, especially on construction sites.
  • Capabilities to use computer pdf drawing packages (i.e.: Bluebeam), Microsoft Office Suite applications, and cloud-based document management systems. (Aconex, Procore, Omtrak etc)
