Senior Fire Technician

An opportunity has arisen to join a leading and well respected multi-discipline, building services engineering consultancy working on projects throughout New Zealand. Based in our Auckland office, the successful candidate will primarily assist the Fire Engineering and Fire Protection Systems team and other building services engineers within the company with design development, contract advice and site related inspections.


We have a strong and growing workload with current projects including hotels, large format retail, health care, aged care, sports facilities and airports.


To succeed in this role, ideally you have:

  • At least 5 years’ industry experience and are a team player and self-starter.
  • A basic understanding of fire engineering safety design principles and related NZ Regulations is required. Previous experience with Fire Safety matters including means of    escape, fire protection systems, fire separations, and passive fire treatment systems. Experience in applying the NZBC ‘acceptable solutions’ C/ASx documents to the built environment within NZ would be an advantage.
  • Experience in construction observation and contract management including familiarity with preparing and managing documentation including RFI’s, CAN’s etc. Good attention to detail and observation skills on site are required. Ability to carry out inspections of the specified fire safety features to the required monitoring level. This will include passive fire systems, sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, wayfinding signage, means of escape.
  • Experience with Health + Safety process and control, especially on construction sites
  • Effective communication skills including technical report writing and verbal communication.
  •  Capable of using computer pdf drawing, Microsoft Office Suite applications, and cloud-based document management systems. Supplementary training would be provided.
