Paul is a chartered profession fire engineer specialising in advanced fire engineering methodologies to produce designs that add value to projects, both in terms of cost and architectural flexibility.  He has over 10 years’ experience as a fire engineering design consultant and more than 18 years’ experience in the application of fire science which includes significant experience in computational fluid dynamics and human movement modelling.

Paul has worked as the design engineer on buildings of various sizes including tertiary education facilities, hospitals, rest-care facilities, public recreational facilities and schools.  He is well versed in the application of the new verification method for fire safety design (C/VM2); has valuable experience in the implementation of innovative design which deviates from the prescriptive model, and the more stringent requirements demanded under the new fire safety code in New Zealand.

With the introduction of the new Building Code fire safety clause and methodology in 2012, Paul has been increasingly involved as a regulatory peer reviewer for projects requiring the fire safety design C/VM2 methodology.  Paul is also Registered with Auckland City Council as a Producer Statement Author.

Paul enjoys participating in tennis and outdoor activities and is a keen supporter of the Canterbury Crusaders.
