St Margaret's College Campus Redevelopment

St Margaret's College Campus Redevelopment

the project

Since the Canterbury earthquakes, Cosgroves has been pivotal to the maintained operation of the facilities at St Margaret’s College. Like all educational campuses in Christchurch, the St Margaret’s building stock suffered significant damage as a result of the earthquakes.

Cosgroves were on site to undertake earthquake survey work to allow the school buildings to be re-occupied or provide guidance on how to maintain school operations. Temporary teaching and laboratory facilities were designed and constructed within a fast-track programme to ensure the college could continue to operate post-earthquake.

As a result of the Canterbury earthquakes, the campus lost 80% of its buildings and since has embarked on an extensive programme of rebuild and renewal of the school facilities.

our role

Cosgroves were the electrical, mechanical, hydraulics and fire engineers for the Principals Centre (formally Jean Crosher). They were also electrical engineers on the Winchester Precinct buildings, the refurbished Kilburn House, the new swimming pool, Warren House and medical centre.
