The new building built for The Press on Gloucester Street in Christchurch consisted a new Greenstar 4 Star rated eight level building with over 7,000m² of floor area providing offices and car parking. All office floors were provided with air conditioning, and the building was provided with a backup generator to ensure editing and journalist staff could continue to operate even during a power outage. The car park ventilation utilised a passive design based on natural airflow across the car park and this design was consented and approved based on the results of CFD computer modelling. Cosgroves provided advice and guidance to the design team and compiling the successful Green Star Submission for the project. The project was completed in 2011.
Cosgroves were engaged to provide mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, security, fire, ESD, and Green Star consultancy services.
