Cosgroves worked closely with Stevens Lawson Architects on the design of the New Chapel for St. Peter’s College in Auckland. The new Chapel is a very striking piece of architecture that acts as a public symbol for the school. The Chapel building consists of the main chapel assembly space with seating for 200 students flanked by the Reconciliation Chapel of St. Peter and the Blessed Sacrament Chapel in the wings. Behind the altar a cross is formed with side-lit windows with the vertical element extending into and across the roof and ceiling in the form of a skylight across the main assembly space providing a link to the baptismal font at the entrance. The entrance is through a gathering space that connects with an assembly courtyard.
Cosgroves were engaged to provide mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, fire safety engineering and fire protection consultancy services.
